Yes, fade me in the NFL as a rule. Up one game over .500 so that will probably change very quickly.

Most are ashamed to admit it but watch closely and you will see other fade candidates.

By the way there are some solid cappers here as well, no question. Too many to name. Don't want to make it sound like they are all squares like me.

dog, unless you are doin this to make serious money, imo, the process of locating, evaluating, and processing information and coming to a sound and defendable(PERSONAL) opinion on a particular outcome is what makes sports' capping so enjoyable......following someone takes no imagination or effort, might as well play the lottery........not tryin to dissuade ya from trackin someone , but you shldnt let other peoples opinions sway you from your OWN thoughts/opinions and a lot of times thats EXACTLY what happens........no better feeling than to win $ on a logically arrived at result that YOU came to through whatever methods you use............and when you lose, hopefully by tracking your OWN results , you can find your flaws and correct them FWIW ...................GL

I wrote a long post last January about my betting system. It works by following the best cappers on the board (I named the 6 cappers that I thought were the best-one of them was Hank Goldberg the sports TV commentator, who is not technically a board capper) Then I took a consensus of their plays and bet according to the number of cappers that were on the various plays.

They are not doing as well this year, although Hansen Bros got off to a good start and Sixth Sense and Goldberg are holding their own. But short term streaks are not important. They came and go, good and bad. The important thing is who can go through a full season and hit 57% or more. These 6 guys did it last year. Look up my post and read it. I think it's what you are looking for.

One other thought. When 3 of them agree on a game that becomes a very strong play for me. So far this season that has happened 4 times and their record is 3-1.

I just looked up the thread and wanted to warn you guys that I'm only 18-30 in the NFL this year

but I'm doing much better in the NCAA football and MLB

ESQAJM
quote:
I am a "lurker". I handicap my own games, but am a lousy handicapper and would be lucky to hit 50% over the course of a season. Therefore I lurk in the background, rarely posting my own picks. When I feel very strong about a game I will post a pick. The few times I actually posted a pick I have been very accurate and have about a 70-75% winning percentage. I did not keep any records. I probably posted about 6 or 7 picks for the whole season, including preseason.

But the way I bet the games is to review everyone else's picks and select picks from a consensus of the better handicappers on this board. I have a panel of 6 cappers that I use to get my consensus. Then I coattail the consensus. That is how I do my handicapping and I'm not ashamed of it. Now I've seen several posts, mostly from newcomers, asking who the better handicappers are on this board. I gave a lot of thought to this before writing this post as I didn't want to insult anyone with my opinions or leave anyone out who is a good handicapper. But I finally decided to write this as I thought it may help some people out there.

To the cappers I name below-in no way do I mean to ridicule or insult you with my comments. These are my thoughts on your handicapping and if I say anything negative, it's only my honest opinion and maybe you can use it as constructive criticism to improve your handicapping.

To any other cappers with good records that I may have left out-I'm sorry if I didn't notice you, but I only have a limited amount of time to read the board.

The best- OCCAMS RAZOR- I don't let a week go by without betting his 1 play a week.-Marvelous job this season, but I'm afraid I'm against you today with my beloved Giants.

Almost as Good- SPACIOUS K- Great job this season. Well thought out analysis and great winning percentage for the season.

All cappers listed below I consider equal and they are not listed in any special order.

SIXTH SENSE- Great analysis of the games, but sometimes I feel he gets lost in all his facts. Also probably picks too many games. Decent winning percentage for the season.

HANK GOLDBERG- Technically he is not a capper of this board, but his picks are solid and he has close to a 60% winning percentage.

HANSEN BROS- Started following him late in the season. Solid, well thought out picks. Don't know what kind of winning percentage he has.

RAIDERS 72001- Same comments as for Hansen Bros.

When 2 of these guys agree on a game its a play for me if no one has the opposite side. If 3 or more agree on a play its a bigger bet for me. This has worked well for me this season and has won me money. If I just played this system I would be a winner, but I don't have the discipline to do so. My problem is that I must bet on every game the NY teams play as I watch them on TV and can't watch a game without a bet on it. The same holds true for Monday night football. Because of this I am a small loser on the season so far-down about 10 units.

Just a final thought to put things in perspective. Yesterday (Saturday) 4 of them picked Green Bay. The other 2 had no opinion on the game. Normally this would be a strong play for me. For some reason I didn't feel comfortable with the pick and followed Big Lou who picked Atlanta. This shows that you still have to read the board and consider other cappers' opinions.

Use this forum as a tool, but always go with your own opinion and analysis. More times than not with you'll be with the majority, but there will be that one time that your not and that will be the winner.

be careful following someone that is VERY HOT.

what tends to happen is they migrate back towards the 55% to 58% range, and the majority of posters dont hit even 55% over a season. There are many solid cappers here, the Rubber Room has a lot of them, and it is a great place for info from the other side of the counter. Wagering more than 2% on games is not a good idea in many long-term investors' eyes.

I agree with ATX on being careful with someone that is hot especially if his history here is bad. It's similar to a lifetime .250 hitter that's hitting .390 the first two weeks you know he's going to cool off. It also works the other way around. If a guy is a .320 lifetime hitter and he's hitting .180 he'll heat up. All fantasy guys know this.

Spacious K went on an unreal roll at one point last year. won everyweek to end the season. I admit I would hit around 50%, so I look at games I like and then go in and follow those guys, NY reb is always pretty steady too. Panther when here wins in College, especially during the bowls..can't miss. People like DRDEATH and BrokenN, Kodiak, ATX, Big Lou, BBlight, Prophetable picks, WinkyDuck, Sunguru all add good stuff too. I agree with raiders. People do get hot and cold. I have learned to follow certain people for certain games too. Like Proph. picks knows his PAC10 and winky ducky is unreal picking teams like UCSB and those schools in college hoops. Start reasearching people and get ideas yourself and then looks for a select few. Also I know it's a myth, but when one person says the L word, it loses--it really does

Raiders72001: I know you are 18-30. You are one of the cappers I follow. I eliminated your picks last week because you are colder than an iceberg. But keep working at it. Cream rises to the top and I'm sure by the end of the season you will be at the top. I'm waiting for your hot streak to start.

Thanks ESQAJM. Good move to take me off for a while. I remember you writing about your system last year and it sure did work. I hope you post your plays as I found it interesting. GL
